Our route home took us through the northern part of the Texas panhandle and Amarillo. On the way we were paralleling the BNSF railway that connect El Paso and Kansas City. Every few miles there were silos usually associated with beef feedlots especially in Bovine and Hereford, TX. The lots were impressive in their size and smell. The pens were filled with dark hide cattle that made the country side look black. I found it unbelievable that animals could tolerate living in such conditions.
